Some things just happen. 

On foot along a part of the North Wales coastline on a UK national holiday in 2010 I just photographed as I walked. 

Some people looked quizzical and surprised as I stopped to take each photograph that they clearly and definitely knew they were in. But after taking each photograph, I would look up just beyond them as though I was completely focused on something else other than them that was on the horizon, and then kept walking. It was good fun.
